Eyre Park

Eyre Park is a beauti­ful and popular park locat­ed just 5 minutes walk from Albany's Mid­dle­ton Beach.

The park is named after the famed ex­plorer Edward John Eyre, who walk­ed the 1500 km from Fowlers Bay in South Australia to Albany, arriv­ing in 1841.  Eyre's aborig­inal com­pan­ion Wylie has a street named after him over­look­ing the park.

The park features a lake with sever­al small islands that are home to a varie­ty of ducks and other waterbirds.  Large well-establ­ish­ed trees, ex­pan­s­ive lawn areas, pathways and seat­ing make this an ideal place for children to play or just to relax.

Picnic facili­ties include free public barbecues near a cover­ed pavill­ion with tables and bench seat­ing.  Drink­ing water and public toi­lets are avail­able nearby, as is con­veni­ent park­ing.

For kids, there is a range of slides, swings, and climb­ing frames, a sand pit, a gated children's play area pro­vid­ed for toddlers, and half court basketball for older children.  This makes Eyre Park a popular out­door venue for enjoy­ing the com­pany of family and friends.

Please note the lake area is a water hazard and children should be super­v­ised at all times.

Eyre Park is locat­ed on the corner of Adelaide Cres­ent and Garden Street, approxim­ately 3 km from the centre of Albany.
