Eyre Park

Eyre Park

Eyre Park is a beautiful and popular park located just 5 minutes walk from Albany's Middleton Beach.

The park is named after the famed explorer Edward John Eyre, who walked the 1500 km from Fowlers Bay in South Australia to Albany, arriving in 1841.  Eyre's aboriginal companion Wylie has a street named after him overlooking the park.

The park features a lake with several small islands that are home to a variety of ducks and other waterbirds.  Large well-established trees, expansive lawn areas, pathways and seating make this an ideal place for children to play or just to relax.

Picnic facilities include free public barbecues near a covered pavillion with tables and bench seating.  Drinking water and public toilets are available nearby, as is convenient parking.

For kids, there is a range of slides, swings, and climbing frames, a sand pit, a gated children's play area provided for toddlers, and half court basketball for older children.  This makes Eyre Park a popular outdoor venue for enjoying the company of family and friends.

Please note the lake area is a water hazard and children should be supervised at all times.

Eyre Park is located on the corner of Adelaide Cresent and Garden Street, approximately 3 km from the centre of Albany.
