Salmon Holes

Salmon Holes Beach is a popular and pictur­esque fish­ing beach in Torndirrup Nation­al Park, named after the salmon that rest in the calmer waters near the shore.

Locat­ed just off French­man Bay Road, approxim­ately 23km from Albany City Centre, Salmon Holes Beach is a beauti­ful white sandy bay enclos­ed by steep slopes of granite and heath-cover­ed dunes.

The view from the look­out, just 200m from the car park, is popular with photo­graphers and a must see for visitors.

The beach is acc­ess­ible via a wind­ing wooden staircase that leads from the look­out to the beach proper.  Swim­ming is per­mitt­ed, but there is a risk of rips and strong surges.  The beach is not patroll­ed by life savers.

Extremely popular for fish­ing, it is, however, one of the most danger­ous places on the South­ern Coast.

Ex­tremely popular for fish­ing, it is, however, one of the most danger­ous places on the South­ern Coast.  Keep safe­ty in mind and never leave children un­super­v­ised, or allow them to fish from rocky out­crops.  Drown­ings are an un­fortun­ate occurr­ence for un­w­ary visitors, as king-waves have claim­ed many of those fish­ing from the granite rocks.

Close by is the Bald Head Walk­ing Trail, popular with bushwalkers, the Dis­cov­ery Bay tour­ist attrac­tion and French­man Bay.
