Salmon Holes
Salmon Holes Beach is a popular and picturesque fishing beach in Torndirrup National Park, named after the salmon that rest in the calmer waters near the shore.
Located just off Frenchman Bay Road, approximately 23km from Albany City Centre, Salmon Holes Beach is a beautiful white sandy bay enclosed by steep slopes of granite and heath-covered dunes.
The view from the lookout, just 200m from the car park, is popular with photographers and a must see for visitors.
The beach is accessible via a winding wooden staircase that leads from the lookout to the beach proper. Swimming is permitted, but there is a risk of rips and strong surges. The beach is not patrolled by life savers.
Extremely popular for fishing, it is, however, one of the most dangerous places on the Southern Coast.
Extremely popular for fishing, it is, however, one of the most dangerous places on the Southern Coast. Keep safety in mind and never leave children unsupervised, or allow them to fish from rocky outcrops. Drownings are an unfortunate occurrence for unwary visitors, as king-waves have claimed many of those fishing from the granite rocks.
Close by is the Bald Head Walking Trail, popular with bushwalkers, the Discovery Bay tourist attraction and Frenchman Bay.
