Apex Park - Lake Weerlara

Apex Park - Lake Weerlara

Apex Park is a large, family oriented park featuring a small lake, wide grassy areas and a range of play and sporting equipment.

There are half-court basketball and netball rings, a twin-pole corro-cord climbing net and a junior skate bowl suitable for beginners.  A mini football oval with goal posts adds to the range of activities available.

Several sculptures surround the lake and informative plaques describe some of the local history.

The main feature of the park is Lake Weerlara, a small and attractive lake skirted by reed beds and shady trees, with an abundance of native waterbirds.

Several sculptures surround the lake and informative plaques describe some of the local history.  Restful benches are dotted about for enjoying the view.

Lake Weerlara is classified as an Aboriginal heritage site, and former gathering area.  Events such as the Lockyer Community Family Fun Day help maintain the importance of the area to the local community.

Apex Park is located near the large roundabout at the entrance to Albany.  Convenient parking is available just off Parker Street.  Please take care with small children due to the water hazard.
