Getting to Albany
Albany, Western Australia is located 415 km southeast of Perth.
Nestled between the hills of Mount Clarence and Mount Melville it borders the coastal waters of Princess Royal Harbour and King George Sound.
Most travellers arrive by car. The direct route from Perth along the Albany Highway takes approximate 5 hours depending on rest stops. The speed limit is 110 km/h with convenient passing lanes at many points along the route.
Along the way you will pass through several scenic rural towns such as Williams, Kojonup and Mount Barker, each offering a range of interesting places to visit.
TansWA coaches travel daily in both directions from Perth and Albany and follow the same route along Albany Highway, stopping at Williams for a rest break. Travel takes approximately 6 hours. Virgin Australia flies daily between Perth and Albany, with the flight lasting just 1:10 minutes. Albany Airport is located 11 km north of the city centre with taxi services available to take you to your accommodation. For Virgin flights, call 13 67 89.
There is no passenger rail service to Albany.
Albany is an RV Friendly Town with free dump sites and water available at the Information Bay on Albany Highway and near the Brig Amity Replica on Princess Royal Drive. Most caravan parks provide dump facilities for their guests.
